Festival of colors is over but not the stains on our body. Post holi care is a clumsy task to get into but don’t hurry trying everything on your skin to remove holi colors. Make sure you follow these natural tips and tricks as per your skin type religiously and you will be back with your glowing skin with no harmful effects.
1. Face masks- Pamper your skin in most organic manner
For Dry Skin- In case you fall in this category, add yogurt/raw milk to 1 tbsp of besan. Add few drops of essential oil and apply on the affected area. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash off the area with cold water. This will help you remove holi colors.
For Oily to Combination Skin, Multani Mitti does wonders in removing the colors. Take 1 tbsp of multani mitti and mix it with 2 tbsp of curd or increase the quantity keeping the proportions in order. Apply this mixture on your face and neck. Leave it until it dries. Wash off the pack gently using cold water.
If you don’t have time for masks and has little stains, you may use cotton ball soaked in rose water. Gently rubbing them on areas will help in taking colors off your skin.
2. Care for your hair
It takes patience and proper care to bring back hair in normal condition. Holi colors settle down on the scalp and even the slightest of the residue is enough to damage your beautiful hair. This pack will moisturize your hair and also gently removes the color.
Take one tablespoon of lemon juice and mix it with curd. Apply this mixture properly in roots. Keep it for 15-20 mins and thereafter use herbal shampoo to wash off the hair mask. Lemon juice is acidic in nature and helps fight scalp infection due to exposed colors.
If you feel itchiness or dryness on your scalp, soak fenugreek seeds in yogurt overnight. Grind the mixture in morning and apply on scalp evenly. Let it stay for 40 mins and wash off with a mild shampoo.
3. Body care
To remove the stubborn colors off your skin you may use 2 tbsp of Curd, pinch of haldi, few drops of olive oil and lemon and lastly 1 tbsp of Gram Flour. Apply this paste generously over your skin and rinse off the pack with water. Apply moisturizer/coconut oil all over to hydrate your skin.
Alternatively, you may also try indulging in this scrub that I have used to get rid of body colors. Make a mixture of honey and papaya and scrub on the affected areas. Wash off with mild shower gel and apply good amounts of lotion post bath to bring back life to your skin.
Cautions To Remove Holi Colors
1. Hot water will solidify the color so try and use cold water or cold cream on your skin.
2. Washing face again and again will lead to dryness so avoid doing that.
3. Avoid rubbing skin with hard objects to take off the color. Instead use cotton soaked in moisturizer/baby oil/rose water to remove the left over colors on your skin.
4. A big no to indulge in skin treatments like waxing, facial etc for at least 3-4 days.
